The Lag And The Furious Brazilian
Kiru left early today, and it’s my friday night. So I decided to look for some fun. I’m short on cash, so shopping or looking for escorts was out of the question. I also didn’t really feel like hunting for freebies or ranting about religion.
So, I decided to go racing. Well, I checked out a few RP sims out first, but I wasn’t really interested in spending 2000 L$ on weapons. Plus, I don’t have the time to join an RP sim regularly anyway. At best I can drop by once a week.
I ended up at Gaxis Kart Racing first. I knew the place since Kiru dragged me there before when we were hunting for a car. You can also grab a freebie shopping car thing there. It looks like a crossbreed between a golf car and a handicapped person’s electronic wheelchair. Would be interesting to take this thing to the Last Call sale.
Either way, the racing track itself is pretty cool. Has a few bumps and some sharp curbs. And since each round it tells you your time and keeps a track of your personal records (at least of that active session), it’s addictive as well. I kept trying for half an hour, just to see if I could bump my personal time under 30 seconds. I finally succeeded and scored 24 seconds before I quit.
Now, the really interesting thing however about these tracks, is the socialising. It seems there’s a special breed of Brazilian people that breed on race tracks. In one of the hardest curbs of the track, there was a small herd of people talking in Portuguese. Of course now and then I smashed into them. I even dragged one guy halfway across the track between my front wheels before he jumped off and walked back to his position. Killed my record time.
I understand they don’t speak English, but isn’t it common sense to not stand in the middle of a fucking race track? In my last laps on the track, I decided to finish in style. In Carmageddon style to be more precise: hit as many foreign people as possible and drag them along the track for as long as possible. Now that I began to actively try, I managed to drag one blingtard along for an entire lap. I dropped her off where I picked her up. Hope she enjoyed the ride.
After I finished at Gaxis, I went looking for something more exciting than a desk chair tied to a lawnmower engine. I ended up at a Second Life F1 track.
First things first … holy shit. Compared to the kart, this thing really handles differently. A tiny nudge to my arrow keys and I’m almost making a full circle. Still, I decide to try it out. Trying out is the most it ever became. With my non-existant driving skills I was unable to finish a lap entirely. Guess it’s back to the lawnmowers for me.
Then, when I finally reached the 2nd checkpoint and had thus finished half a lap. Someone ran onto the track. And OMG, it began talking in Portuguese (I say it because I didn’t have time to check if it was male or female). Like any good driver, I decided to run it over the very moment I heard that language being uttered, and once it was no longer in sight, I ported back home and decided I did enough racing for today.
I’ll finish off with some 1st person shots. Not that they’re really necessary, or add anything. It’s just that I only found out today that there’s an option to show your avatar’s hands in 1st person view. I love it. ^_^
